The National Museum of American History is launching a special exhibit focusing on how the U.S. Constitution continues to shape modern U.S. politics. In your handout, stakeholders have asked you to provide the following context for museum visitors:
• Develop a historical overview of the U.S. Constitution. Include the following in your overview:
o When the Constitution was written and by whom
o Why the initial Articles of Confederation failed
o What prompted the ratification of the Constitution
• Identify political challenges that the framers of the Constitution faced while writing it, and provide an overview of how they addressed these issues.
o You do not have to explain each individual political challenge that affected the writing of the Constitution. A general explanation of how the framers addressed these political issues collectively is appropriate.
• Explain the different branches of government, and also explain why there is a division of power between the different branches.
• Describe the role of the Supreme Court, including how the U.S. Constitution is used in its practices.
• Using the examples provided for you in the resource section, discuss how the U.S. Constitution still shapes modern politics.
