A descriptive essay

            Your assignment is to write a descriptive paragraph about an adult in your life who, like Mr. Gery, was tough but kind. In your paragraph tell who the person was and explain their relationship to you. Describe how this person was "tough but kind." Provide examples that show the person's toughness and kindness. Begin with a topic sentence which might be something like this example: Mr. Smith, my boss at the supermarket, was a tough but kind man. You should go on to describe how he/she was both tough and kind. (example: Mr. Smith required his employees to work hard, but he always showed his appreciation.) Make sure the focus is on the person you are describing and not yourself. Your paragraph must contain at least 3 detailed examples of a time when he or she showed you both toughness and kindness. (example: I remember a time when the grocery store had cases of water on sale and keeping up with demand was an exhausting task. It was sweltering outside, but at the end of the day Mr. Smith treated all of us to an Icee. Although we were tired, the work didn't seem too bad after all.)
