You are working in a student medical clinic when a student comes in complaining she has had a sore throat for the last 3 days that is very painful. She states she may have run a temperature last night but that she is unsure. She denies any nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or cough, but admits to slight nasal congestion.

Physical Exam: She is 5’4”, 132 lbs, BP 122/88, pulse 124, temp 100.1° F

Tympanic membranes are dull and immobile, sinuses are nontender and her nares are normal, and her throat appears very red with no exudates. Neck is supple with two enlarged lymph nodes on the right. Pulmonary and cardiovascular exam is normal.

Labs and Diagnostics: Rapid strep is positive.
