Reading chapters 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and the Epilogue (p. 169-242). As you read identify a central theme of each chapter, and one paragraph that connects that theme in some interesting way either to the Matsuura family, Japanese history, or both. 1. Describe what you see as the most significant way the Matsuura family changed during the modern era (from the early Tokugawa era to present). Name one historical development or event related to that change. What are the pros and cons that come with that change?
