Business Ethics Case Study
You have been assigned one of four businesses: Amazon, Starbucks, FedEx, or Tysons. Each of
these businesses is experiencing Employer-Employee conflict. If you think about this assignment
in relation the document describing how to write a case study, then should spend more time
thinking about the stakeholder and their rights. The outline document stresses identification and
analysis of the actions of the Decision Maker, which is rather straightforwardly identified in the
news articles reporting on the conflicts at these businesses. While you should mention these
items (Sections 1-3 of the outline document), I am more concerned with an ethical analysis of
stakeholders and the types of solutions (Sections 4-7 of the outline document). This means it will
be important to emphasize concepts from the text (identified below) and avoid the prominent
error of the first paper of simply reporting on the facts of the case.
1. The three sources of businesses regulation regarding employee rights: Acceptable Risk
and Cost-Benefit Calculations Internal to the Business, Free Market and Organized Labor
Negotiations, and Governmental (Federal or State) Oversight and Legislation.
2. If firing is involved in your case, then fairness (just cause and due process) should be
mentioned.
3. Consider as the Corporate Culture of the businesses and whether they are living up to
their own code of conducts/corporate ethics report. (You will need to research that)
