What makes Pompeii such an important archaeological site?
Why is mass tourism a threat to Pompeii? In your opinion, what, if anything, should be done to counter that threat? Should the number of tourists to Pompeii be limited, and if so, by what means (i.e., first-come-first-served; increased ticket price, etc.)?
About 1/3 of the ancient city remains unexcavated. In light of the difficulty in preserving the site, do you think that it is better to leave the unexcavated areas alone? Why or why not?
