Case studies involving a number of family structures and complex presenting issues.
Students will be asked to choose from one of two case studies involving a number of family structures and complex presenting issues. They will be asked to plan an assessment and intervention strategy that draws on further research on one of the family therapy models studied as part of this course. One of the learning goals of this assignment is to show your familiarity with a specific model and your skills in applying the model to a family hypothetically worked with. Attached is the case study I chose, it is titled Case Study. As well as the rubric and a chart of figferent therapy models we learned in class choose from the chart one that could be implemented in this paper.
Family description (1-2 pages)
Structure and Composition of the Family
Describe demographics, characteristics and roles of each family member
Identify strengths and resources of the family as a whole
Presenting Issues of the family
Identify and describe presenting issues
Prioritize one or more treatment goals that you would plan to address.
Literature Review on Presenting Issues (1-2 pages)
Review research focusing on addressing the presenting issue.
Select one of the family therapy approaches studied as having good potential to address the presenting issue with a rationale based on empirical evidence.
Discuss the extent to which this approach is relevant culturally and contextually to the family.
