Dante Alighieri played a critical role in the literature world through his poem Divine Comedy that was written in the 14th century. The poem contains Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The Inferno is a description of the nine circles of torment that are found on the earth. It depicts the realms of the people that have gone against the spiritual values and who, instead, have chosen bestial appetite, violence, or fraud and malice. The nine circles of hell are limbo, lust, gluttony, greed and wrath. Others are heresy, violence, fraud, and treachery. The purpose of this paper is to examine the Dante’s Inferno in the perspective of its portrayal of God’s image and the justification of hell.
In this epic poem, God is portrayed as a super being guilty of multiple weaknesses including being egotistic, unjust, and hypocritical. Dante, in this poem, depicts God as being more human than divine by challenging God’s omnipotence. Additionally, the manner in which Dante describes Hell is in full contradiction to the morals of God as written in the Bible. When god arranges Hell to flatter Himself, He commits egotism, a sin that is common among human beings (Cheney, 2016). The weakness is depicted in Limbo and on the Gate of Hell where, for instance, God sends those who do not worship Him to Hell. This implies that failure to worship Him is a sin.
God is also depicted as lacking justice in His actions thus removing the godly image. The injustice is portrayed by the manner in which the sodomites and opportunists are treated. The opportunists are subjected to banner chasing in their lives after death followed by being stung by insects and maggots. They are known to having done neither good nor bad during their lifetimes and, therefore, justice could have demanded that they be granted a neutral punishment having lived a neutral life. The sodomites are also punished unfairly by God when Brunetto Lattini is condemned to hell despite being a good leader (Babor, T. F., McGovern, T., & Robaina, K. (2017). While he commited sodomy, God chooses to ignore all the other good deeds that Brunetto did.
Finally, God is also portrayed as being hypocritical in His actions, a sin that further diminishes His godliness and makes Him more human. A case in point is when God condemns the sin of egotism and goes ahead to commit it repeatedly. Proverbs 29:23 states that “arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.” When Slattery condemns Dante’s human state as being weak, doubtful, and limited, he is proving God’s hypocrisy because He is also human (Verdicchio, 2015). The actions of God in Hell as portrayed by Dante are inconsistent with the Biblical literature. Both Dante and God are prone to making mistakes, something common among human beings thus making God more human.
To wrap it up, Dante portrays God is more human since He commits the same sins that humans commit: egotism, hypocrisy, and injustice. Hell is justified as being a destination for victims of the mistakes committed by God. The Hell is presented as being a totally different place as compared to what is written about it in the Bible. As a result, reading through the text gives an image of God who is prone to the very mistakes common to humans thus ripping Him off His lofty status of divine and, instead, making Him a mere human. Whether or not Dante did it intentionally is subject to debate but one thing is clear in the poem: the misconstrued notion of God is revealed to future generations.

Collaboration in the Cloud
Collaboration in the cloud refers to the practice of working together on projects or documents using online tools and platforms. It allows individuals or teams to collaborate on documents, share information, and work on projects in real-time, regardless of their physical location. Cloud-based collaboration offers several advantages over traditional methods, such as increased efficiency, flexibility, and accessibility.
One popular tool for cloud-based collaboration is Google Docs. It is an online word processing application that enables users to create, edit, and share documents in real-time. With Google Docs, multiple users can work on the same document simultaneously, making it an excellent choice for business-based documents. Here, we will delve into the pros and cons of using Google Docs for business purposes and compare it with Microsoft 365 Word Docs.
Pros of Using Google Docs for Business-Based Documents:
Real-time Collaboration: Google Docs allows multiple users to edit a document simultaneously, facilitating seamless collaboration. This feature is particularly useful for teams working on projects that require constant updates and input from various members.
Accessibility: Since Google Docs is cloud-based, it can be accessed from any device with an internet connection. This accessibility allows team members to work on documents from different locations and devices, making it convenient for remote teams or individuals who travel frequently.
Version Control: Google Docs automatically saves changes made to a document, creating a version history that allows users to revert to previous versions if needed. This ensures that no data is lost and provides an additional layer of security for business documents.
Easy Sharing: Sharing documents with colleagues and clients is simple with Google Docs. Users can grant different levels of access to collaborators, including view-only or editing permissions. This makes it easy to control who can make changes to a document and ensures that sensitive information remains secure.
Cons of Using Google Docs for Business-Based Documents:
Limited Offline Access: While Google Docs offers offline access through the use of browser extensions, it is still primarily reliant on an internet connection. If users find themselves in an area with limited or no internet access, they may not be able to work on their documents.
Formatting Limitations: Although Google Docs provides a wide range of formatting options, it may not offer the same level of flexibility and advanced formatting features as traditional word processing software like Microsoft Word. This can be a drawback for businesses that require complex formatting or specialized templates.
Integration with Other Software: While Google Docs integrates with various other Google Workspace apps, it may have limitations when it comes to integrating with third-party software commonly used in business settings. This can be a disadvantage for organizations that heavily rely on specific software tools.
Now, let’s compare the use of Google Docs with Microsoft 365 Word Docs for business-based documents.
Comparison between Google Docs and Microsoft 365 Word Docs:
Collaboration Features: Both Google Docs and Microsoft 365 Word Docs offer real-time collaboration features that allow multiple users to work on a document simultaneously. However, Google Docs has a slight edge in this area as it provides a smoother and more seamless collaboration experience.
Formatting and Advanced Features: Microsoft 365 Word Docs generally offers more advanced formatting options and features compared to Google Docs. This can be beneficial for businesses that require complex document formatting or advanced functionality.
Offline Access: While both platforms offer offline access, Microsoft 365 Word Docs provides a more robust offline experience. Users can work on their documents without an internet connection, syncing changes once they regain connectivity. This can be advantageous for individuals who frequently find themselves in areas with limited internet access.
Integration with Software: Microsoft 365 Word Docs integrates well with other Microsoft products like Excel and PowerPoint, making it easier for businesses that rely heavily on these tools. However, Google Docs has an advantage when it comes to integration with other Google Workspace apps like Gmail and Calendar.
In conclusion, cloud-based collaboration offers numerous benefits for businesses. While Google Docs excels in real-time collaboration and accessibility, Microsoft 365 Word Docs provides more advanced formatting options and offline access. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the business or team involved.
