Conformity and Defiance
Share an example from your personal experience (of your own or of someone you know) or an example from history where groupthink may have influenced people to behave or arrive at a decision in a way that many individual members privately might have avoided or thought unwise.
When one member suggested that our product should be geared towards a specific demographic, several members of the team were quick to dismiss this idea despite having no prior experience or knowledge about how to proceed with such a plan. This led many individuals to privately express doubts about the direction we were taking but refrain from voicing their opinions out of fear of being rejected by the group or ostracized for going against the consensus. As a result, our final product failed due to poor strategic planning and lack of market research.
