Critical Theatre Review.

Refer back to Week Two when you analyzed a theatre review. Go back and read that review or find another one from the New York Times or the Leiter blog. Now that you have learned all of the major areas of theatre, you may see the review in a new light. Theatre reviewers, often called critics, try to critically analyze the production and its theatrical elements as an art form. You are to do the same in this end-of-semester assignment. First, "attend" a "live" theatre production (these terms are fluid in the time of covid). If you want to go to a live theatre performance, that's fine. Live theatre productions are open, but with seriously observed Covid protocols. You could also go to a community theatre production, an outdoor production, or a production in a church or community center (again, with protocols). Or, you can access the over 500 theatre productions available to you in the Digital Theatre + database you were to look at in Week 12. So, first, choose the live or digital production you find interesting or exciting (you must actually VIEW the production; don't review the play or present someone else's review; write your OWN review). Then, read the Guide to Writing a Critical Theatre Review (read some reviews online or in a print newspaper to see how a critic structures a critical analysis). Only then, start writing your Critical Theatre Review.
