Should we Implement Stop and Frisk? Is it Worth It?
President Donald Trump has supported the implementation of “Stop and Frisk”, especially in certain cities with the highest levels of violent crime. Should this policy be implemented in San Francisco or in your own community? Why or why not?
Discuss the following questions in your analysis:
Is the policy constitutional (is it racial profiling, a violation of equal protection under the 14th amendment, or a violation of the 4th amendment protection against unreasonable searches)?
Will the policy encourage police officers to target people of color unfairly? Can it be implemented in a way that reduces crime, without discrimination?
Has the policy made communities safer in cities where it was implemented? Is there evidence that it might reduce crime in our SF neighborhoods? Is crime reduction a result of other factors?
