    Essay
Plastic surgery is the process of reconstructing or repairing parts of body by the transfer of tissues, either in the treatment of injury or for cosmetic reasons. Today, doctors perform an increasing number of cosmetic surgery procedures and is spreading throughout the developed world unlike in the past when surgical treatments were not very effective and affordable for most people. Many people all over the globe go in for plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons and treatment of injuries caused by accidents; however, the physical and psychological effects that this has on the patients cannot be overlooked.

Firstly, plastic surgery for cosmetic and treatment of different types of injuries caused by accidents is quite common. As women begin to age, they tend to worry more about wrinkles; besides, it has become one of the major concerns among almost every woman nowadays. In fact, cosmetic surgeries help women to remove these wrinkles and make them look young again. Next, plastic surgery is helpful to correct several defects caused by road accidents. Plastic surgeons strive to improve patients’ appearance and self-image through both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures to correct defects like a droopy face that appear after a severe car accident. Interestingly, this helps such individuals because their friends and peers accept them without giving room to develop any inferior feelings. Again, due to scars caused by accidents many people opt for plastic surgeries. For example, a severe scar is one of the most painful and obvious injuries one can suffer, and this can leave a permanent mark and a lifelong bad memory of an accident. A plastic surgery to correct such a deformity caused by a scar in such a case is welcome because of the relief that comes with it.

Consequently, plastic surgery also carries significant physical and psychological risks and dangers. The surgical procedures can result in severe pain and injuries for the patient that may, for instance, need weeks and even months to recover. In addition, plastic surgery causes permanent scars, and they tend to have an adverse effect on patients. In fact, many of our major body sculpting surgeries require very long and unpredictable incision. The face life that most people are familiar with is a good example of it as it leaves deep scars that remain unless they are properly treated with caution and patience. Furthermore, plastic surgery may lead to disappointment and depression if it did not give the expected results. If a plastic surgery goes wrong, there is a high probability that the patient becomes depressed. Even with the most experienced plastic surgeons, there is always the risk of plastic surgery going horribly wrong; the effect of this on the patient can be detrimental.

In short, people go in for plastic surgery either for treatment of injuries caused by accidents or for cosmetic reasons. Plastic surgery can help patients attain the desired results, but just like any other process it has its own benefits and consequences. The effect of a plastic surgery can be physical or psychological. To reduce the negative effects of plastic surgery, it is very important to be aware of the dangers before undergoing an operation. If a plastic surgery is done for non-reasonable motives, its negative impacts will outweigh its positive effects.
