Read the case scenario about association between an exposure and a health outcome. In this case you will be
looking at the casual theory used by epidemiologists and making inferences of associations. Answer the three questions at the end of the case study in detail. Define what is meant by a causal association. Discuss
how three of the criteria for causal association (strength, consistency and temporality) might be applied with
respect to the relationship between cigarette smoking and lung cancer.
Your project should include the following:
Introduction about the events in the case
Discussion of the influence of television viewing and health behavior
Discussion of epidemiologic evidence
Discussion of exposure/outcome relationships
Discussion of definition of casual association
Discussion of three of the criteria for casual association
Application of the criteria
