Disability/Diversity Simulation

  Acquire a deeper knowledge of what it means to possess a disability or live as a different person. To complete this exercise, students will live for a day with their chosen disability/difference. While living this experience, students will document their experiences, feelings, reactions of others, challenges, and successes. At the end of the experience, students should answer the following queries: 1. What was the disability or difference chosen? 2. What were your experiences living as a person with a disability or difference? 3. As it relates to your experience of living differently, how did it affect your ability to interact with the public, family, members, etc.? 4. How did others respond to you as a person with a disability or your chosen difference? 5. What challenges did you experience? 6. What were some of your successes? 7. What did the experience teach you about the needs of persons with disabilities or others who are different from yourself?
