The long-term effects of women leaving the workforce as outlined in the video include a decrease in economic growth, a widening of the gender wage gap, and a decrease in female representation and advancement opportunities within leadership roles. Women have been disproportionately impacted by job losses due to pandemic related closures which has resulted in many opting out of work altogether or being forced to take on lower paid positions with less secure future prospects. This has also had an adverse effect on women’s personal lives as well due to an increased need for childcare and other family obligations that can make it difficult for them to balance their responsibilities both at home and at work.
