Effect of Internet to Participation in Groups

Research suggests that Internet users may be more connected in groups than those who spend less time on the Internet because of the ways technology can help

us develop community. For all the benefits the Internet offers for building connections, there is also research suggesting that teens especially are more

physically isolated from one another than previous generations because of all of their time spent online.

How do you think the Internet has affected our participation in groups? Do you participate more in groups as a result of your Internet usage? Has the Internet

helped you find a "tribe" to belong to as Seth Godin discusses in this week's TED talk? Do you relate to the author's concerns that we are more isolated today

because of our time spent online?
