Emotions play in morality
1.What role should emotions play in morality? 2. Many people believe there are differences in the way men and women deliberate about ethical choices. Do you agree or disagree and where do you think these beliefs come from?
When it comes to the gender differences in moral deliberation, there is some evidence to suggest that men and women may indeed go about making ethical decisions differently. Studies indicate that men tend to be more direct in their approach when considering right or wrong actions while women often focus on how their decisions might affect those around them emotionally before reaching a conclusion. Some scholars attribute this difference in thinking styles between sexes as being rooted in historical roles assigned to each gender: traditionally, men were seen as protectors and providers while women's skills revolved around nurturing and caring for others through emotional support.
That said, there has not been enough research conducted on this topic yet for final conclusions to be drawn; thus we cannot say definitively whether these differences exist or where they come from with any certainty just yet. However at a minimum it appears clear that given the diversity of opinions on morality today – both sexes should give equal consideration how their actions impact all those involved before arriving at decision so maximize chances society progressing potential future benefit everyone involved .
