district, New Zealand. You have been hired as a consultant to do some initial investigations into the policy and
planning context, and potential impacts associated with the proposed project.
For this assignment you will need to:
• Create a policy network diagram illustrating the relevant policies that the project will need to
comply with, who the project proponent will need to apply to for resource consent, and the
stakeholders who will need to be consulted.
• Complete the attached table, identifying the potential impacts that will need to be investigated
in an environmental impact assessment, and potential assessment techniques that could be
used to assess them.
• Write a short report introducing your policy network diagram and potential impacts table, and
explaining the importance of effective community consultation and public participation in
environmental impact assessment.
