Evaluation of a Published Article

  Use the article provided on Blackboard, titled “The Implicit Association Test – Greenwald, McGhee and Schwartz (1998)” and should also refer to the APA writing template titled, “Full Paper – APA Format Template (7th Edition)” as a writing and formatting guide (mainly for the title and reference pages). These materials are available on Blackboard under the “Assignments” tab in the “Homework Assignment 2 Materials” folder. Title Page for Greenwald, McGhee and Schwartz (1998): Using APA format, write the title of the article, the authors, and their affiliated institutions. You should also include your name and affiliation on separate lines of this page (directly below the article authors/affiliations – this aspect is for PRACTICE relating to your Lab Report). You should include a running head and page numbers, in addition to an author note at the bottom of the page. This section should begin on a new page and should take up the entire page. Description of Greenwald, McGhee and Schwartz (1998): Briefly describe the study in full sentences (please paraphrase). This section is NOT required to be in APA format. This section should begin on a new page with “Description” as the heading, center-justified. 1. State the main purpose for conducting this research, as presented by the authors 2. Describe what the authors did (e.g. brief description of the three experiments) 3. What the authors found (e.g. summarize the MAJOR RESULT of the three experiments) 4. What conclusions were drawn from the results (e.g. summarize the conclusions briefly). How did the authors determine that they were able to measure (i.e. operationally define) the concept of Implicit Associations? 5. In your OWN OPINION, was there anything lacking in this experiment that you might want to address? It may help to think of your own life and/or experiences for this part!
