Write an expository paper (a paper to inform, educate, or explore) on a topic related to culture. You can think about global, national, local, or family culture. You must explain how your topic is related to, creates, affects, or is affected by culture. Aside from an expository paper, the synthesis must also be a compare and contrast essay.
For example,
Compare a piece of American culture with the culture of another Country.
One topic we discussed in class was the issue of domestic violence. We read in Trevor’s book that in South Africa, abusing the wife was to show love and if you didn’t hit her, you didn’t care about her. You can write about how that compares with domestic abuse in America and how it reflects the culture in both countries (Does South African culture establish men as the head of household? Who is the head of the household in American culture?
