This study will employ a qualitative methodology with primary sources being used to answer this research question. Primary data sources include newspaper articles from around 1940, official documents from both France and Haiti, as well as photographs taken during that period. Additionally, secondary sources from books and scholarly articles discussing key events related to Elie Lescot’s rule in Haiti will be consulted in order to provide a full understanding of historical context related to his reign. Semi-structured interviews with historians specializing in Haitian history may also be conducted when possible. This data collection method allows for flexibility when exploring themes related to socio-economic classes, foreign powers and internal political movements which can offer insights into why Elie Lescot lost power. The results of this investigation are expected to shed light on how economic inequality among social classes, French colonialism and internal struggles over authority contributed towards instability within Haitian society that ultimately lead up to Elie Lescot’s downfall in 1941. By looking at these various factors separately but also together it should become clear what elements played a decisive role in his demise while highlighting some key challenges faced by many other governments located throughout Latin America during that time frame . The implications stemming from these findings could then further our knowledge about similar authoritarian regimes; potentially providing useful case studies for those researching or studying other contemporary despotic leaders elsewhere globally .
