Lack of money. Inflation has caused stress on the family as food and other necessities have become so expensive. This is particularly worrisome as the family is quite large and even includes extended family living in the house. • What have you done to improve the situation? The mother and father of the family were paying all the utility bills, house maintenance and food at one point. This is not feasible anymore as things have gotten much too expensive. Everyone is to contribute 50$ for food per month as well as contributing 100$ towards a utility bill. This has significantly reduced the burden that the mother and father in this family face. • Share with me your primary goal in the immediate situation. Finding a way to lessen the cost of living. Everyone has to start paying for themselves. • What is causing you the most stress? Stress has mostly been related to money but can also be attributed to lack of space and the amount of people now living in the house. • How has this stress affected you and the members of your family? The family argues frequently about who gets to take a shower as there is only one bathroom. The cousins share a room which cause privacy issues and fights. • How are the everyday needs of the family getting done (e.g., cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, transportation, sleeping)? The cousins share a car and they drop each other off at work every day. In addition, the mother and father share a car and follow that process as well. Everyone else in the house drives their own vehicle. The mother and aunt do all of the food shopping, cleaning and cooking for every meal. In addition, they both do the laundry for the house. • How well is your family managing this stress? The family is managing the stress the best they can but much of the stress falls on the mother as she is the one who has to handle everything from cooking to paying bills. • What results or outcomes do you hope for? The family is looking for a better way to live that is more financially stable and they are also looking for a way they can get along better. • What do you feel you need to help solve this situation? They need everyone in the house to have a steady job in which they can contribute to the finances of the house in addition, everyone needs to help with the everyday needs of the household like food shopping, laundry and cooking. • What does your family do to feel relief or take a break? They enjoy eating and spending time together on Sundays.
