HAPU

Submit 2-3 pages describing the Methods/Design and Statistical Analysis that you will use in your project. Use the evidence from the peer reviewed articles that you have critically appraised and synthesized. Follow APA format and cite references. Include the following: 1. Describe the evaluative criteria (indicators or variables) to be addressed in answering each evaluation question. 2. Describe the research approaches to be used to answer each question and why they are appropriate to the evaluation questions posed. 3. Describe in specific detail how data will be collected related to each of your evaluative criteria/indicators. Discuss exactly how the data be collected, when, and by whom. Describe any data collection tools in terms of their development and appropriateness in answering the evaluation questions. Provide information on validity and reliability of tools, if available. Explain why the data collection methods are appropriate to the research approach, type of data, and purpose of the evaluation. 4. Describe how you will analyze the data, including specific statistical tests to be used. Include dummy data tables if applicable to show how you will display your findings. Discuss how your research inquiry relates to evidence-based practice. What practice improvement outcomes do you expect your inquiry to accomplish? How do you intend to evaluate your capstone project? TOPIC: HAPU
The Methods/Design and Statistical Analysis section of my project proposal:
  1. Evaluative Criteria
The following evaluative criteria will be addressed in answering each evaluation question:
  • Effectiveness: To what extent has the HAPU program been effective in achieving its goals?
  • Acceptability: To what extent is the HAPU program acceptable to the participants and stakeholders?
  • Sustainability: To what extent is the HAPU program sustainable in the long term?
  1. Research Approaches
The following research approaches will be used to answer each evaluation question:
  • Effectiveness: A quasi-experimental design will be used to compare the outcomes of participants in the HAPU program to those of a control group.
  • Acceptability: A qualitative approach will be used to collect data on the participants' and stakeholders' perceptions of the HAPU program.
  • Sustainability: A mixed-methods approach will be used to collect data on the financial, organizational, and social sustainability of the HAPU program.
  1. Data Collection
The following data will be collected to address each evaluative criterion:
  • Effectiveness: The following data will be collected from participants in the HAPU program and a control group:
    • Self-reported health status
    • Health-related quality of life
    • Use of health care services
  • Acceptability: The following data will be collected from participants in the HAPU program and stakeholders:
    • Interviews
    • Focus groups
    • Participant observation
  • Sustainability: The following data will be collected from the HAPU program:
    • Financial records
    • Organizational documents
    • Interviews with key stakeholders
  1. Data Analysis
The following statistical tests will be used to analyze the data:
  • Effectiveness: A paired t-test will be used to compare the outcomes of participants in the HAPU program to those of the control group.
  • Acceptability: A thematic analysis will be used to analyze the qualitative data.
  • Sustainability: A financial analysis will be used to assess the financial sustainability of the HAPU program. A content analysis will be used to assess the organizational and social sustainability of the HAPU program.
Dummy Data Tables The following dummy data tables show how the data will be displayed:
  • Effectiveness:
| Group | Self-reported health status | Health-related quality of life | Use of health care services | |---|---|---|---| | HAPU | 7.5 | 6.0 | 1.5 | | Control | 6.5 | 5.0 | 2.0 |
  • Acceptability:
| Theme | Frequency | |---|---| | Positive perceptions of the HAPU program | 20 | | Negative perceptions of the HAPU program | 5 |
  • Sustainability:
| Category | Data | |---|---| | Financial sustainability | The HAPU program has been operating for 5 years without any financial problems. | | Organizational sustainability | The HAPU program has a strong organizational structure and is well-managed. | | Social sustainability | The HAPU program has strong community support and is well-integrated into the community. | Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a process of integrating the best available research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values to make decisions about patient care. It is a systematic approach to making decisions about healthcare that is based on the best available evidence. My research inquiry on HAPU (hospital-acquired pressure ulcers) is related to evidence-based practice in several ways. First, I will be conducting a literature review to identify the best available evidence on the prevention and treatment of HAPU. This evidence will be used to inform the development of practice guidelines for HAPU prevention and treatment. Second, I will be working with a team of healthcare professionals to implement the practice guidelines in a clinical setting. This will allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of the guidelines in preventing and treating HAPU. The practice improvement outcomes that I expect my inquiry to accomplish include:
  • A reduction in the incidence of HAPU
  • A decrease in the severity of HAPU
  • An improvement in the quality of life for patients with HAPU
I will evaluate my capstone project by using the following indicators:
  • The number of HAPUs that occur
  • The severity of HAPUs that occur
  • The quality of life of patients with HAPU
I will also collect feedback from healthcare professionals and patients to assess their satisfaction with the practice guidelines. I believe that my research inquiry has the potential to make a significant contribution to the prevention and treatment of HAPU. By using an evidence-based approach, I hope to develop and implement practice guidelines that will improve the quality of care for patients with HAPU. In addition to the indicators listed above, I will also evaluate my capstone project by using the following criteria:
  • The rigor of the literature review
  • The clarity and relevance of the practice guidelines
  • The effectiveness of the implementation process
  • The satisfaction of healthcare professionals and patients
I believe that these criteria will provide a comprehensive assessment of the success of my capstone project. References
