QUESTION 5
There are many delivery approaches that can help a trainer deliver the content that needs to be learned. One core focus is to ensure that the delivery style is one that is palatable for all learners. The knowledge for this comes through the understanding of the various adult learning concepts and then tailoring the delivery approach to those concepts. For this question, explain the three major adult learning styles. Then, choose one delivery approach, and discuss the activities in the approach that would best fit each learning style.
Two transfer activities that effectively promote knowledge share are job shadowing and mentoring programs. Job shadowing allows a more experienced employee to show another how their job is done while also giving the learner an opportunity to ask questions about the work process or any challenges they may encounter along the way. Mentoring programs provide support for both parties by allowing them to benefit from each other’s expertise through open discussion, collaboration, problem solving practice sessions and continual support even after formal meetings have ended.
Two challenges that may arise when training across cultures are cultural assumptions that could lead to misunderstandings between trainees with different backgrounds; language barriers which can lead to confusion; and problems with communication due to differences in communication styles between countries/regions (e.g., high-context vs low-context cultures). Solutions for these issues would involve carefully researching cultural norms beforehand so trainers can recognize potential misunderstandings before they occur; providing translation services if needed; utilizing visual aids such as videos and diagrams during lectures which facilitate understanding regardless of language ability; and incorporating group activities into lessons so participants feel more comfortable expressing themselves amongst peers who understand their culture better than outsiders do.
