In this 8-10 page paper, students will analyze interpersonal communication skills used in their own work setting. Students will describe the value of good communication skills in the workplace, including the negative outcomes that can occur if communication is poor. Students will describe how management (this can be a supervisor, president, or overall manager) communicates messages to employees in the organization. This description should include how messages are delivered and the effectiveness of the delivery (do employees understand the messages). Students will analyze the communication process as it is done in their organization and offer suggestions for improvement. Examples are strongly encouraged and should be linked to research. A minimum of 5 professional references are to be included.
In addition to the paper, the student will compose a Power Point presentation of no less than 10 slides. The student will video themselves presenting the slides as if they are presenting to a group or classroom. The presentation is to be a summary of the paper. The video is to be uploaded to YouTube with a link provided in the submitted paper.
