We know smoking causes lung cancer and poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle increases risk for obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Knowing this we would expect that no one would smoke or that people would eat balanced diets and exercise regularly. Well that is not the case. Why? Knowledge alone is not enough to change behavior. Explain why it is difficult for people to change health behaviors. What other factors (including cultural) need to be considered when it comes to behavior change?
