Reviewing the film, “The Shack,” (can find on Netflix) try to put yourself in Mack’s situation. You’re devastated by the loss of your daughter, especially in such a horrific way. You are blaming yourself. You’re blaming God. You’ve shut everyone out. And then you receive an invitation to meet God at the very place where your daughter was murdered. Choose FOUR of the seven questions to answer in your reflection paper:
1. Do you think it was sinful for Mack to be so angry with God? Why or why not?
2. What were some of Mack’s preconceived ideas of what God was like? How did “Papa” change those?
3. Why was it easier for Mack to talk to Jesus? What are some things that Jesus taught Mack?
4. How did Mack relate to Sarayu (the Holy Spirit)? What did Sarayu teach him about sorrow? And what did the messy garden mean?
5. What did the movie teach you about forgiveness? Why is forgiveness so important? Who did Mack need to forgive and why?
6. Did Mack experience healing and closure? How?
7. What did you think about the movie? Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not?
