Nursing Theory
Based on the theory of attachment, what behaviors would a nurse attempt to stimulate when working with parent to promote health attachment?
The nurse should also provide educational resources for parents so they can learn more about children’s developmental stages, discuss any concerns with other professionals such as psychologists or teachers, find support groups for those who are struggling or feeling overwhelmed, or access services that might be needed such as financial assistance programs or respite care.
By engaging in these activities a nurse is able to work towards establishing an attachment bond between the parent and infant by strengthening their connection through trust-building behaviors that contribute to overall physical and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, this helps create an atmosphere of respect within the family unit where all individuals feel valued regardless of age or ability level. All these factors play an integral role in helping build healthier attachments for both parent and child alike.
