Organizations in the future

A major component of the paper involves applying the impact-creation logic model and innovation archetype framework to Ben & Jerry’s. This includes the following (in no particular order):

  • When/where founded, where it currently operates, legal status: for-profit, non-profit, hybrid
  • Discussion of Ben & Jerry’s impact-creation logic (3 dimensions)
  • Mission; main UN Sustainable Development Goals connected to mission; how the business positions itself in the market landscape; key differentiators of its triple bottom line strategy
  • Differentiate Ben & Jerry’s activities for Phases 1-3 (Ideas, Piloting, Scaling)
  • Innovation vs. scaling; identify and describe the mode(s) of scaling utilized
  • Identify innovation pathologies experienced in at least 2 Phases, and for each one:
  • Identify the type(s) of uncertainty that relate(s) to the pathology; briefly explain what each uncertainty tells us about the organization’s impact-creation logic
  • Describe the social enterprise strategy that contributed to the pathology
  • Identify the resulting consequences for the organization
  • Analyze the social enterprise response/steps of action to overcome the pathology
