Poetry Research Project

You will write your essay on how that poem contributes to our society. Your thesis should answer this question: How does this poem contribute to the larger conversation about its topic? What motivates your poet to write the poem? How does your poet use language to present the theme? How the poet you have chosen fits into the conversation on that topic, and how the poet impacts our society, in other words, how this poet can be seen as one of “the unacknowledged legislators of the World.” The Poem | chose : The World Is Too Much With Us BY WILLIAM WORDSWORTH The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:— Little we see in Nature that is ours; We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon! This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon; The winds that will be howling at all hours, And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers; For this, for everything, we are out of tune; It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn; So might |, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathéd horn. link: https:/Avww. poetryfoundation.org/poems/45564/the-world-is-too-much-with-us Find more detail in the attachment files
