Every product is classified with a specific code:
NAICS = North American Industry Classification Standard (newer data-base than SIC, developed in conjunction with NAFTA)
Conduct research on the Library’s electronic data-base, Business Insights: Global, to discover your product’s industry and its code. These codes are extremely handy for further academic, trade and consumer investigation. You may need to “go in the back door” and search the company, or a competitor, in order to arrive at the correct designation.
The Industry Descriptor usually appears as the first paragraph of the specific Industry Essay.
