Public Health in Kansas

Throughout the semester each student will select an event, person, trend, development, episode, law, book, issue, or something that you feel is important in recent Kansas history. I will leave the choice up to you but you need to clear your topic with me in advance so there will not be overlapping of topics. The following resources may be monitored: daily editions of The New York Times, Lawrence Journal World, Topeka Capital Journal, Baker Orange, The Kansas City Star, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and Wichita Eagle; and the nightly television news each day from ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, or CNN, “The Morning Edition, “Fresh Air,” and “All Things Considered” aired on National Public Radio (NPR) or credible news links on the Internet. The use of the resources must be balanced. That is to say, each type of resource must be monitored and no type of resource should be excluded.

A one-two page summary and analysis should accompany your topic to be turned in.

Each student will make a formal oral presentation, not to exceed ten (10) minutes, of the topic. This oral presentation MUST NOT be read, but shall be presented conversationally.
