Problem 1: Risk of infection for the patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Problem 2: Heavy workloads with limited time to rest for the health care workers. Select one of the two problems described as the focus of your teaching project, conduct a learning needs assessment, and document your findings and their implications for possible teaching methods. This is not a formal paper. Both narrative and listed responses will be acceptable. However, sections not fully answering the criteria as set forth will receive 0 points for that section. The assignment is to be typewritten and submitted to the faculty mentor electronically as a word document. Include a copy of the grading criteria (may be copied and pasted into the document). You will find the Needs Assessment Rubric in Resources. Identify the problem. What sources of data were used to identify and define the problem, and establish the need for instruction? (a minimum of one source from the literature must be utilized in this discussion) (10 points) Identify the target audience. Give a clear description of the specific group of learners that will be the recipients of the teaching intervention. (10 points) Identify or create a tool to be used to assess the informational needs and learning styles of the group of learners. Include a copy of the tool used. (30 points) Assess your target audience and describe your findings. This section must clearly answer the following questions: What strategy/method did you use to assess the learners? What did you, as the educational designer, learn about the problem? What did you, as the educational designer, learn about the group of learners? (30 points) Based upon the results of this needs assessment, propose at least 3 different teaching methods to address the learning needs of the group. These teaching methods must take into account the different learning needs of the group. (10 points) Grammar and spelling (10 points) A sample is included to help with instruction.
