Senate Hearing on Boeing

On March 27, 2019, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Aviation and Space Subcommittee held a hearing on “The State of Airline Safety: Federal Oversight of Commercial Aviation.” This hearing was a direct result of two accidents. The first accident occurred on October 29, 2018, B737 Max 8 aircraft operated by the Indonesian airline, Lion Air Flight 610, a scheduled domestic flight from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang. The second accident on March 10, 2019, was Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, a scheduled international passenger flight from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya.

Subsequent to the two accidents multiple countries grounded the aircraft or would not let that specific type operate in its airspace. One of the last countries to ground the aircraft was the United States. Subsequently, it was one of the first hearings held on March 27, 2019. Review
