Project – Recognizing Leadership in the Workplace
The purpose of this project is to enable the student to transfer the information gleaned in the course work and readings to the workplace by helping students identify readiness levels and leadership behaviors and whether there is proper convergence between the two. This paper will also help students improve their leadership skills in the workplace as well as enhancing their research and writing abilities.
Instructions
This is a reflection of a personal observation of leadership-in-action within an organization and how the leadership is or is not working in it. The writer is expected to help the reader understand the effectiveness of the leader/follow interaction in the subject company. If it was effective, why and what learning the writer had; if not, what could be done differently to improve the interaction.
Select a company of your choosing with which you make a personal observation of an interaction with a leader and follower during the normal course of business. (Note: this is not a personal experience you have with them as one of the participants either as the leader or follower). The content of the paper should include the following at a minimum:
1. Name of company
2. Why you chose them – provide details.
3. Nature of interaction – positive or negative. Describe.
4. Follower readiness – give reasons why.
5. Leadership style and behaviors noted.
6. Was it effective? Why or why not?
