              1. Brief Literature review: Starting early on, each student should begin conducting a review of the literature related to the subject. Often there is limited or contradictory research, so students should use empirical/scholarly sourcesLinks to an external site. and reflecting on the research with a critical eye. Students should use at least 3 scholarly sources (Links to an external site.) per essay. Students are encouraged to draw from a breadth of authors and to intentionally include scholarship from women, people of color, indigenous and queer people. Students may also us other reliable forms of data on the topic to supplement their knowledge of the topic.
