Considering that he begins his journey in New York, and goes south to Florida, and the North defeated the South in the Civil War, what do you think the message is of the descriptive essay? Where does he show that message? Or, what do you think the purpose of his “rambles” are? Use the Stearns’s essay to help prove your point.
