Write a rough draft of the creative critical narrative you wish to tell in your final project. See the Final Project
prompt for more guidance on the tone and register.
During the week 9 sections, you will be asked to present material towards this rough draft: either an outline of
ideas, the draft itself, a series of questions, a couple ideas etc. You must bring something to these sessions so
you can work with your TAs. Your TAs will also be responsible for providing comments to the draft you turn in
on Canvas for you to make revisions.
In tandem, explore at one or more of the artists from the week 9 module and reflect on how they are telling
critical narratives about music, history, and societies through their practice:
Final project:
Final Project: Create A Sonic Story with a Critical Narrative
Duration: ca. 10 minutes
In form this can resemble a radio-play, a podcast, a “Hörspiel”, or any other kind of sonic story-telling that is not
in a traditional song-form.
In Audacity, create a critical narrative through story-telling and sound. The register of the narrative can be
anywhere from speculative science fiction to current personal/global narratives to family histories… there is a
lot of flexibility and I want you have space to create something off the beaten path. You can deliver this
narrative in a couple different ways: by speaking it (telling a story), singing, poetry, recitative, as long as it’s a
vocal deliver.
