2- The problem of China
In the post-cold war world, the economic threat posed by China today is a growing concern. The development of a global economy has many consequences and so on the one hand it is beneficial if China’s economy is doing well (they can purchase more American goods for example) but there is also a fear of being in debt to China. How can these concerns be balanced? What do you see as the future consequences of an increasingly global economy and world?
Post 3 ( In this a brief comment)
The cold war was a great political tension after world war 11 between powers in the Eastern Bloc the Soviet Union and its satellite states and powers in the western Bloc the United States, it’s NATO allies and others. This was a struggle between two world superpowers. It started in 1947 and lasted till 1990. Europe and Asia were greatly impacted by the cold war. Indochina was the first business site of these political leaders. According to Brower and Sander 2014, neither the political or the economic matters could be addressed independent of the underlying social problems. At this time leaders were looking for the ideology that will work as that will be the political and the economic determining factor.
Mikhail Gorbachev tried so many reforms. For example, he wanted a policy or practice of more open conservative government and wide dissemination of information. He also started a reform that will kick-start the stagnant economy of the Soviet Union. He intends to oversee the most fundamental changes to his nation’s economy but unfortunately, these reforms did not work out as intended. instead, it lead to the collapse of USSR in 1991. Glasnost and Perestroika achieved little success although president Gorbachev did not give up but embark on a more ambitious program. According to history.com, president Gorbachev was the first to criticize the inefficient economic system of the communist. He encouraged western investment and also allowed manufacturers and local government agencies to bypass the previously stifling bureaucratic system of the central government but later reversed it when faced with pressure from hardliners after a massive strike by 3000,000 miners in 1991. According to Ocana 2003, this atmosphere of change affected the Stalinist structure of repression throughout the soviet union and the Eastern Europe Satelite States. Reagan and Gorbachev did not want war only wanted to end this great threat to the world. Gorbachev policies impacted the communist society in negative ways as it brought economic turmoil and food shortages. So many factories closed and there was a high rate of unemployment. The communist leaders partially favored the principles of Gorbachev as they were looking for policies that would work at that time.
