The impact of the Seven Years’ War on colonial society.
Explain the impact of the Seven Years’ War on colonial society. Pay particular attention to how the war and its outcome shaped colonial identities and the relationship between colonists and Indians.
Before this war, most of the colonists saw themselves as separate from Native Americans, viewing them as a threat or even inferior to Europeans. This belief became further entrenched during this war when many Indian tribes sided with France against Britain due to colonial policies which were seen by many Natives as oppressive. The British victory in this war solidified their control over much of North America and gave them more power to impose their will upon those who lived there – both European settlers and Indigenous peoples alike.
As a result, more Europeans started to view Native Americans as savages or barbarians instead of human beings with rights equal to theirs; this dehumanizing attitude towards Natives allowed for unjust treatment such as forced relocation or exploitation of resources without any form of consent . What’s more is that since Britain had sole claim over all lands now under their jurisdiction they could pass laws forbidding certain activities like hunting without permission making life increasingly difficult for those unable abide rules.
The Seven Year's War also caused greater divisions between different groups living within colonies; while some viewed Native Americans enemies because they fought alongside French , others realized need create alliances if wanted survive while still others simply wanted remain neutral so not be caught up middle fray . These differing opinions led much mistrust eventually leading complete breakdown relations causing long-lasting animosity between two sides thus impacting social fabric society at large
