The Muslim Perspective on the Legitimacy of the Bible as Divine Revelation

Explain briefly the Muslim view about the legitimacy of the Bible as divine revelation.
The Muslim Perspective on the Legitimacy of the Bible as Divine Revelation In Islam, the belief in divine revelations is a fundamental tenet of faith. Muslims hold the Quran as the ultimate and unaltered word of God, revealed to Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. While the Quran is considered the final and complete revelation, Muslims also acknowledge the legitimacy of previous scriptures, including the Bible, as divine revelations. Muslims believe that the Torah, the Psalms (Zabur), the Gospel (Injeel), and other scriptures were revealed by God to previous prophets, such as Moses and Jesus. These earlier scriptures are viewed as guidance for their respective communities at the time of revelation. However, Muslims also believe that over time, these previous scriptures underwent alterations and distortions by human hands, leading to discrepancies and inconsistencies in the texts. As such, while Muslims respect the original teachings and messages contained in the Bible, they believe that the current versions may not accurately reflect the original divine revelations. Therefore, while Muslims hold a reverential view of the Bible as an earlier scripture from God, they regard the Quran as the final and preserved revelation that supersedes all previous scriptures. Muslims are encouraged to seek guidance and wisdom from the Quran as the ultimate source of divine revelation that provides comprehensive and unadulterated guidance for humanity.
