It looks at not only domestic but also international tensions as well as economic developments contributing to political decisions taken during this time frame . As it was written long after these events took place , it can be considered as a secondary source since it explains and offers interpretations based on facts gathered from various sources such as newspapers , letters & other documents generated during the period being studied . Primary Source: The Declaration of Independence (1776) is a primary source that I found on the National Archives website. This document declared the freedom of the United States from Great Britain and formed the foundation for America's current government. The authors of this important piece are Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert R. Livingston. It is considered to be a primary source because it was written during the time period being studied and provides firsthand evidence of events at that time.
