Focus on one television crime show season/episode or film.
Be dedicated to analysis through specific lenses, which might include: narrative, scenic construction, character development, or editing. You might choose to analyze the protagonist/antagonist/goal. Remember that resources are posted for you in Pages, on Canvas, to see video examples of this process. Other lenses might include: Feminism, Political Slants, or Racial Prejudice.
You must select one to three crimes/punishments, based on the programming, to research.
Research about the show is expected, with at least 2 outside sources. This might include using verifiable information about the program, actors, writers, directors, sets, special effects, music, etc. Wiki is not a valid source at any time, but you might find primary sources listed at the bottom of Wiki pages that you can go to for solid information.
A brief synopsis of the show should appear in the introduction, but not overwhelm the paper. You need to reduce the summary to between five to eight well-constructed sentences. Remember, this is an analysis, not a report. (Reports simply retell the story; this assignment is to analyze/make meaning of it).
Look for symbolism in objects, color, sound, visual effects, body language, etc. Don’t simply report observations but take the step further. Answer: what do they mean?
