(9-11 pages) In this assignment students will write a detailed research paper of a particular developmental
issue(s) among children in classrooms. This assignment will combine the university wide learning goals of
written/communication skills and critical thinking/problem solving skills. The specific requirements/sections in
the assignment are described below.
- Introduction: 1) Students will identify a specific developmental issue they would like to learn more
about, 2) explain the developmental issue from historical, sociocultural, intellectual, physical
perspectives, 3) connect theoretical learning and teaching concepts to the issue (concepts learned in
class), and 4) explain the importance of researching the issue in other words why is it important to
expand our knowledge of this developmental issue as teachers and families. - Literature review: Students will conduct a thorough literature review of the issue (maximum 10
sources). - Strategies to use and implement: Explain about learning and teaching strategies one can use to support
the learner to learn, grow, and meet his/her potential, and ultimately have access to learning, school
opportunities and the greater world. These strategies have to be validated with appropriate research
literature (use information from your Literature Review as supporting evidence).
