Using Lung & Cardiac Ultrasound for Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis to Assess Contributing Factors, Severity, Response to Treatment & Predicting Adverse Outcome.
Ultrasound in Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis. To write an inrto about Cystic Fibrosis and why its important and how it utilizes resources and exposure to radiation that affects children and the frequent pneumonias and bronchiectasis. We now use ultrasound to diagnose pneumonia and lung infections and heart problems too . It is well known that ultrasound detects infections early and it is also known that close clinical follow up of CF kids detect infections early and improves morbidity and mortality. If we teach nurses screening ultrasound to detect lung infections we can help detect early comlications and filter the severly advanced CF kids.We need to use ultrasound for: 1-Detecting contributing factors to the disease 2-Assess severity eg pulmonary thickening and B lines on ultrasound 3-prediction of adverse outcomes like early ARDS 4-their response to treatment 5-compare pulmonary function test with ultrasound assessment
