Write a 3 – 4 page paper analyzing the continued relevance and application of an important principle in the
Constitutional framework for contemporary US governance and politics. Your paper should be double-spaced,
12 point font, with references. Citations may be formatted using MLA, APA, Chicago or APSA style.
All papers must be submitted using Turnitin.com on our titanium course site. Matches of 10% or less are
acceptable. Papers with higher percentages matching must be repaired and resubmitted before the due date
and time.
Details:
Your paper should address each of the following (page length of each section are recommended, not required):
- Identify an important principle in the Constitutional framework: how was it originally described – where is it
found in the Constitution specifically – and what were the major concerns it addressed. How did it evolve in its
application over the history of the U.S.? Here be sure to discuss key court cases, events, or time periods as is
necessary. (1 – 2 pages) - Discuss an example in contemporary politics / governance that illustrates the continued importance – or
perhaps the declining importance – of that constitutional principle. Here you’ll use newspaper or other
periodicals from a list on titanium. Be sure to use these sources – or if you prefer a different source(s), you
must discuss it first with Prof. Spitzer before proceeding. (1 page) - Analyze the way that this constitutional principle is currently relevant in American politics based on your
review of the example you selected in #2. If you think it is still relevant, how is its contemporary relevance
different or similar to its importance over our history? If you think it is becoming less relevant, discuss whether
or not you think this is worrisome. In either case, in your opinion, how it should be addressed to improve
American government/politics? (1 page)
