Visual Ad Analysis

We will be working with and Against Goffman's reductive findings. Some people have challenged him.

But many students and scholars have found that, unfortunately, many of his claims remain valid.

The ad may also contain children. These ads can have extra, interesting elements, as in the example below.
Select an ad that has complexity and is ripe for Visual Analysis. Include an image of the ad on a Second Page.
They ad may present non-binary folks, women who are not "feminine", men who are not "masculine" same-sex folks who appear to be in a relationship (think about our Bud Light unit).

The important element is that there are gendered "women and men" to compare. These identities may not match be "traditional" in the way Goffman outlines them. But older ads will likely show more hetero couples and families.
