Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI)

Population: ICU patients with central lines
Intervention: Using chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) when inserting a central line to decrease infection in ICU patients.
Comparison: using CHG instead of povidone-iodine to reduce central line blood infections from occurring
Outcome: Patients who use chlorhexidine gluconate dressings when the central line is placed will reduce the number of infections that can occur from the central line in the bloodstream.
QUESTION: Will the use of chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) decrease the likelihood of acquiring a central line associated bloodstream infection in ICU patients?
