Mental activity, cognitive psychologists

Despite the fact that we cannot see (with the naked eye) mental activity, cognitive psychologists are able to scientifically study these processes. First, explain why this is possible. Next, provide examples at least three things we can observe (i.e. measurable variables) that can be reliably used as proxies for mental activity and explain why this is the case. CHAPTER 2 TASK: How can neuropsychological and neuroscience research (i.e., researching the “hardware”) help cognitive scientists develop and test theories of how the mind’s “cognitive programs” work (i.e. understanding the “software”)? Give at least one example in your explanation.
