Performance factor to evaluate transporting patient

Performance factor to evaluate transporting patient from room to testing or procedure area, and back again.

1)Structure measure

The healthcare structure is measured to judge the adequacy of the environment in which patient care is provided. A measure of structure evaluates the physical and organizational resources available to support healthcare delivery—the organization's capacity or potential for providing quality services.

The hospital must use a stretcher with trained personnel because it is the proper method of transfer for patients who cannot stand safely, sit comfortably, or climb safely from the stretcher to the procedural table. Salt et al. explained that intrahospital transportation of patients from their room to other areas is a subject that should require using educated personnel and proper equipment to decrease the frequency of unwanted situations effectively (2020). The hospital must ensure that transport equipment has to be complete and functional. Safety side rails must be up when transporting a patient and when a patient is left unattended. To use a stretcher safely, it is critical to lock wheels (lock brakes) except when the stretcher is being moved from one place to another. The stretcher also must be raised to a high horizontal position during transport, put the stretcher in the lower position when the patient is not moving, and consistently raise the side rails while transporting the patient. It is also crucial to ensure that there is a safety strap available.
